Dangote Refinery petrol supply is now driving Nigeria’s fuel market, with oil marketers reporting stable availability and no need for imports, even during peak periods. The refinery’s growing output is easing supply pressures and lowering pump prices, industry insiders say.
Chinedu Ukadike, National Publicity Secretary of IPMAN, told Nairametrics that independent marketers are buying directly from Dangote Refinery, bypassing the old three-tier system. “We are getting all our supplies from Dangote. The supply chain is stable, and prices are dropping,” he said. The refinery has reduced volumes for smoother distribution, allowing marketers to combine orders and access fuel quickly.
Despite reports of a November 2025 surge in petrol imports, Dangote Refinery denied any supply breakdown, describing claims of collapsed agreements with marketers as “inaccurate and misleading.” Independent marketers echoed the view, saying the refinery’s output has improved nationwide availability.
Some marketers, like Edwin Ogah, acknowledged that limited imports continue to maintain stock security, but emphasized that domestic refining capacity is steadily growing. “Full-scale direct supply is evolving, and Dangote has already started producing at significant levels,” he noted.
The 650,000 barrels-per-day refinery delivers over 50 million litres daily and pledged to supply 1.5 billion litres monthly from December 2025, cementing its role in stabilizing Nigeria’s fuel market and reducing reliance on foreign imports.
