Burna Boy highest-grossing tour as Nigerian superstar Burna Boy’s ‘I Told Them’ tour has set a new record, becoming the most profitable tour ever by an African artist. The Afrobeat sensation raked in $30.5 million from 302,801 tickets sold across 22 shows in Europe and North America.
Tour tracking platforms confirmed the achievement, noting that the tour has officially become the highest-grossing tour by any Afrobeat artist in history. The London Stadium stop alone on June 29, 2024, generated $6.147 million from 58,973 tickets, marking the single highest-grossing performance by an African musician.
Across North America, the tour pulled in $15.19 million from 152,378 ticket sales over 16 dates. European shows added $15.27 million from 150,423 tickets sold at six concerts, underscoring Burna Boy’s international appeal and commercial clout.
The feat surpasses previous records held by African artists and more than quadruples the earnings of Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour. However, globally, American singer Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras’ tour still holds the crown as the highest-grossing music tour ever, earning $2 billion from 149 shows over 21 months.
Burna Boy’s ‘I Told Them’ tour not only cements his status as a global Afrobeat ambassador but also sets a new benchmark for African artists aiming for international commercial success.
