The All Progressives Congress has fixed March 25 to March 28, 2026, for its national convention, releasing a detailed timetable for congresses at all levels nationwide. The exercise will cover ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses ahead of the convention. The schedule was made public on Saturday by APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru.
Basiru disclosed that the timetable was issued in line with Articles 11 and 17 of the APC Constitution. The process is designed to elect party officials across the country and refresh the party’s leadership structure ahead of future electoral cycles.
According to the schedule, activities will kick off with the commencement of membership e-registration on December 1, 2025. The registration exercise will run for two months and close on January 30, 2026. Notices of congresses will then be issued to state chapters and the Federal Capital Territory on February 2.
The sale and submission of nomination forms for ward and local government congresses will take place between February 4 and February 9, 2026. Screening committees for these positions will be inaugurated on February 10, followed by the screening of aspirants from February 11 to February 13.
Ward congresses are scheduled for February 18, with appeals to be heard the following day. Local government congresses will hold on February 20, during which delegates to the national convention will be elected. Each LGA is expected to produce three delegates, including at least one woman. Appeals from the LGA congresses are slated for February 21.
At the state level, the purchase of nomination forms for executive positions will run from February 23 to February 27. Screening, appeals, and other processes will conclude ahead of state congresses fixed for March 7, 2026. Appeals from state congresses will be handled between March 9 and March 11.
Zonal activities will follow immediately. The purchase and submission of forms for zonal congresses and the national convention will take place from March 12 to March 17. Zonal congresses are scheduled for March 21 across six designated centres nationwide.
The process will culminate in the APC national convention, scheduled to hold from March 25 to March 28, 2026.
