The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed the safe arrival of its C-130 transport aircraft in Portugal, completing a key phase of its scheduled maintenance programme. The aircraft touched down in Lisbon on December 26, 2025, without incident.
According to the NAF, the aircraft, identified as NAF 913, successfully completed a ferry flight to the OGMA maintenance facility in Lisbon. The journey marked the final movement ahead of planned depot-level maintenance.
NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the aircraft followed an updated and approved flight plan. The flight transited through Banjul, The Gambia, and Casablanca, Morocco, in line with international aviation safety standards.
He confirmed that both the aircraft and crew arrived safely at the destination. Ejodame added that all personnel involved in the operation were in good condition and high morale upon arrival.
The Air Force described the operation as smooth and professionally executed, reflecting strict adherence to established safety and operational procedures. Officials said the successful ferry flight underscored the service’s focus on airworthiness and fleet sustainability.
NAF also expressed appreciation to aviation and security authorities in countries along the flight route. The cooperation of host nations, the statement noted, contributed to the seamless transit of the aircraft.
The C-130 fleet plays a critical role in Nigeria’s military logistics, humanitarian missions, and regional operations. Regular depot maintenance abroad is part of efforts to extend aircraft lifespan and maintain operational readiness.
The Air Force reaffirmed its commitment to safety, professionalism, and accountability as it continues to modernise and maintain its air assets.
