Iran ready for dialogue with US as tensions rise, but officials stress the country is equally prepared for military conflict. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made the remarks Friday during a joint press conference in Istanbul with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
Araghchi said Tehran has no concrete plans to meet with American officials yet, emphasizing that negotiations require prior agreement on timing, location, and topics. “We are ready for fair and equitable negotiations. For such talks, arrangements must first be made regarding the form, location, and topic,” he stated.
The Iranian minister also underlined that while the country seeks dialogue, it remains prepared for war if necessary. “The Islamic Republic of Iran, just as it is ready for negotiations, it is also ready for war,” Araghchi warned, reflecting heightened tensions with the United States.
The comments come amid growing concerns over potential US military action, as Tehran continues to defend its nuclear and regional policies. Analysts say the statement is aimed at projecting both caution and strength in the face of mounting international pressure.
Iran’s willingness to talk, coupled with a readiness for confrontation, signals a delicate balancing act intended to maintain leverage while avoiding escalation into open conflict.
