The death of the seasoned lawmaker has sparked grief across Delta State and beyond, particularly within the Anioma nation where he was widely regarded as a strong political voice. Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, described the loss as devastating, calling it a major blow to the state, the Anioma people, and the country.
In a condolence message released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor said Nwaoboshi lived a life defined by courage, service, and loyalty to his people. He described the former senator as a proud son of Delta State whose contributions to public life would endure long after his passing.
Oborevwori recalled Nwaoboshi’s time in the National Assembly, highlighting his role as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs. He said the late senator stood out for his forceful advocacy on issues affecting the Niger Delta, particularly infrastructure, development, and equity for oil-producing communities.
According to the governor, Nwaoboshi’s political influence was not accidental but the result of years of dedication, discipline, and deep-rooted political experience. He noted that the former lawmaker rose through the ranks and served twice as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State, where he played a key role in shaping party structures and strategy.
The governor said Nwaoboshi remained committed to democratic values throughout his career, devoting his life to serving his constituents, his party, and the nation. He described his legacy as one marked by bravery, consistency, and an unyielding sense of duty.
Speaking personally, Oborevwori said the late senator was not only a colleague in public service but also a trusted friend whose counsel and conviction would be missed.
On behalf of the Delta State Government and its people, the governor extended condolences to Nwaoboshi’s immediate family, the Anioma nation, political associates, and all those affected by his death. He prayed for strength for the bereaved and eternal rest for the departed.
