Tinubu South-West votes have become a major political target as leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) unveil plans to deliver a massive electoral bloc for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele announced the strategy during the inauguration of the 57-member Ekiti APC Governorship Election Campaign Council in Ado‑Ekiti. The council will coordinate the party’s efforts ahead of the state’s June 20 governorship election and the broader 2027 national polls.
Bamidele said the party aims to mobilise up to 10 million votes for Bola Ahmed Tinubu across the South-West. He added that the upcoming election in Ekiti State will also test public support for the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
According to the Senate Leader, the governor’s infrastructure projects and development programmes have set a new benchmark in the state. He predicted the ruling party could secure an overwhelming victory at the polls.
Bamidele stressed that expanding voter participation will be key to achieving the Tinubu South-West votes target. Ekiti currently has about 987,647 registered voters, but the party hopes to increase that figure by at least 50 percent before August 2026 through the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
He urged residents to register, collect their Permanent Voter Cards, and actively participate in the governorship election and future national polls.
Bamidele also promised disciplined leadership of the campaign council, setting an ambitious goal of delivering up to 90 percent of the vote for the APC in Ekiti. He called on party members to remain united, noting that cooperation and internal harmony will determine the party’s success.
Governor Oyebanji, speaking at the event, thanked Bamidele for supporting his re-election campaign. He said his team would focus on policy issues and development plans rather than engaging in personal attacks during the campaign season.
The governor also appealed to all candidates and political parties to respect the Electoral Act 2022, emphasising the need for a peaceful, transparent and credible election process in the state.
With campaign structures now in place, the APC is turning its attention to grassroots mobilisation across Ekiti and the wider South-West region as the countdown to the next electoral cycle begins.
