The Nigerian government has confirmed that recent airstrikes targeting terrorists in the North-West were conducted with intelligence and security support from the United States. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the operations are part of structured international cooperation aimed at combating persistent terrorism.
Spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa described the results as “precision hits” on extremist groups, highlighting the coordination, intelligence sharing, and strategic planning involved. He stressed that the collaboration respects Nigeria’s sovereignty and complies with international law.
“Nigerian authorities remain engaged with international partners to address terrorism and violent extremism,” the ministry said, emphasizing that civilian protection, national unity, and respect for human dignity guide all operations. Ebienfa added that terrorist attacks on any community are an affront to Nigeria’s values and international peace.
The ministry noted that these partnerships also focus on disrupting terrorist financing and logistics, preventing cross-border threats, and strengthening Nigeria’s security and intelligence capabilities. Officials assured the public that diplomatic and security channels remain active and that updates will be communicated through official sources.
Nigeria’s announcement comes amid public scrutiny over foreign involvement in counter-terrorism efforts, reaffirming the government’s commitment to maintaining control over its national security agenda while leveraging international support.
